Thursdays with NAMI:

How to Live Independently While Managing a Mental Health Condition

7 p.m. July 7, 2022

What’s it like to live on your own after spending years at a state hospital or with a caretaker? NAMI Program Leaders Lorraine Childs and Nancy Johns will tell us how it worked in their lives.

Nancy is a veteran of the US Army and a disabled paramedic/firefighter. After a traumatic brain injury, she spent 17 years in a state hospital; when it closed, she was finally free but had lost the skills needed for independent living.

Lorraine had to learn a whole new way of communicating while raising a daughter with autism and mental health challenges. Ultimately, she taught her adult child how to live on her own. Join us for this insightful conversation. This event is free and open to the public. Find us on Facebook Live or register to participate on Zoom:
