As part of its ongoing “Healing Through Recreation & Creative Art” class series, NAMI Cabarrus hosted a seminar called “The Art of Calm Through Zentangle” on March 27 at the Concord Library.

Zentangle is an art therapy practice that combines simple drawing techniques with relaxation and therapy. Participants use easily learned strokes, called tangles, to make beautiful art while also practicing mindfulness. The 8-step Zentangle process includes free drawing – letting strokes flow from the pen with no preconceived notion of how the final image will look. This process can encourage a state of zen-like meditation, which can help with stress relief and relaxation.

“Healing Through Recreation & Creative Art” classes taught by NAMI Cabarrus are free to the public. For more information, visit their website.
