Starting Tuesday, August 7th, a new support group for peers will be starting.  The initial group, which started 14 years ago, is on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 pm.  The new Connection group will be meeting a later time, 5:30 – 7:00 pm.  Both groups meet at the Behavioral Health Unit at the New Hanover County Regional Medical Center.

A second Connection group has been needed for several years.  The Wednesday group often exceeds past 12.  Many individuals cannot make the 3:30 pm meeting.  Making the Tuesday group a later time, it is hoped that working individuals will be able to attend.

The NAMI Wilmington Connection was started 14 years ago.  It is the ONLY support group in our area for individuals living with a mental illness.  Next training to become a NAMI Connection moderator will not take place until February 2019.
