If you or someone you know is struggling, you are not alone. NAMI NC and our local affiliates offer an array of outstanding peer-led and family-led programs that provide free education, skills training and support. All of our educational and support programs are FREE of charge.

Educational Programs

  • NAMI Family-to-Family – an 8-session program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. Designed as an evidence-based program by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the program facilitates a better understanding of mental health conditions, increases coping skills and empowers participants to become advocates for their family members.
  • NAMI Peer-to-Peer – an 8-session program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. Taught by trained peer leaders, this program includes activities, discussions, and informative videos to encourage growth, healing, and recovery.
  • NAMI Basics – a 6-session program for parents, caregivers, and other family of youth ages 22 and younger who are experiencing mental health symptoms. The course covers different treatment options for children, how to advocate for your child’s rights, and resources to help you navigate the public mental health care, school and juvenile justice systems.
  • NAMI Provider – a class for mental health professionals designed to expand the participants’ compassion for individuals and their families and to promote a collaborative model of care.
  • NAMI Smarts for Advocacy – a series of workshops or a full day training designed to help people living with mental illness, friends and family transform their passion and lived experience into skilled grassroots advocacy.

Support Groups

  • NAMI Connection – support group for people with mental health conditions. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by trained leaders who’ve been there.
  • NAMI Family Support Group – support group for family members, significant others, and friends of people with mental health conditions. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar experiences.
  • LGBTQ+ Support Group – in partnership with the LGBT Center of Raleigh and NAMI Wake County.
  • Support Group for Stress and Anxiety – open to both peers and family members and focuses primarily on stress, anxiety, and depression.
  • Stress and Anxiety for African Americans – support group focusing on the unique challenges for anxiety and depression in the African American community.
  • Survivors of Suicide Attempts Support Group – support group for any adult who identifies as a suicide attempt survivor.
