What Happens Inside the De Facto Mental Health System (AKA Prisons and Jails)? A Conversation with Dr. Trisha Hahn

Meet Dr. Tricia Hahn, recently retired psychologist for the North Carolina prison system. As Assistant Director of Behavioral Health for the Central Region, her area included the maximum security Central Prison and the Correctional Institution for Women. What does treatment look like for justice involved individuals, and how did she find the clinical environment?

Dr. Hahn has plenty of experience from which to draw, having worked at C.A. Dillon Youth Development Center, the RJ Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (ADATC), the UNC-Chapel Hill Bipolar Center, and Dorothea Dix Hospital forensic unit. Prior to her clinical career, she was with the Administrative Office of the Courts and played a role in the creation of Drug Treatment Courts.
