Thursdays with NAMI: Mental health and mass incarceration

Thursday, March 16, 7:00pm

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Black men are six times more likely to be imprisoned than Caucasian men. Sharif Brown understands what mass incarceration can do to a family; he lost years of quality time with one of his brothers because his sibling spent time behind bars.

Sharif is the Program Manager for State Reentry at the Alliance of Disability Advocates NC. Since starting in that role in 2019, he has helped hundreds of men find their place in the community after being incarcerated. He is also the only Certified Travel Training Instructor in North Carolina.

How do Sharif and his team introduce recovery and new life skills to folks who have been incarcerated for years? Meet him and his team to learn the answers. This event is free and open to the public. Find us on Facebook Live or register to participate on Zoom.
