Thursdays with NAMI: Meet Complex Trauma Coach Candace Alley

Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022

Most of us are familiar with trauma, which occurs when a frightening or violent event overwhelms us. The brain gets stuck in “fright/flight/freeze” mode. Complex trauma refers to a series of events that happen over months or years, such as childhood abuse, profound neglect, or multiple combat deployments.

What helps with recovery? We’ll be asking someone with experience. During her childhood in the mountains of Caldwell County, Candace Alley experienced abuse and learned to smoke crack at home. Today she is a certified peer supporter, coach, and Founder/CEO of Trauma Resource Network and Alley Recovery. Candace has shared her story and knowledge with humans across the globe. Her story illustrates that healing from trauma and recovery are possible.

This event is free and open to the public. Find us on Facebook Live or register hereto participate on Zoom.
