Lisa Flynn was always brilliant. She completed a doctorate in quantum physics from the University of Washington in St. Louis and postdocs at the University of Manchester and the Liquid Crystal Institute of Kent State University. She worked a series of tech jobs in Silicon Valley, finally retiring from Apple in 2021. During this time, she was married for 30+ years and had two sons.

In one regard, however, she was a late bloomer. In 2021m her life changed radically when she came out as transgender at age 62. Although she was assigned male at birth, she always knew something was wrong. However, at an early age she found that living in denial was safer than living her truth. Not that it was easy. Hiding one’s truth leads to a great deal of pain. Through all of life’s challenges and accomplishments, the deep dark secret of her true gender was hidden away, even from herself. She could feel her joy draining away – she just didn’t know why.
