Violence against Asian Americans has increased dramatically since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Stop AAPI Hate, a coalition that tracks incidents of violence and harassment against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the U.S., reported nearly 3,800 instances of discrimination against Asians in the past year. Is mental wellness possible against a backdrop of persecution? Join us this week on Thursdays with NAMI, for a conversation about solutions and what type of self-care strategies are helpful. Guests include NCCU Nursing Instructor Lily Chen, who is the Program Director of United Chinese Americans WAVES (Wellness, Advocacy, Voices, Education, and Support) Youth Mental Health Collaborative; and UCA WAVES Coordinator Jennifer Tu, a second-generation Chinese American and student of theology and medicine at Duke.

Thursdays with NAMI starts at 7pm and is free and open to all, but registration is required. To register and view the schedule for future sessions, please click HERE.
