Featured on this week’s Thursdays with NAMI session, is Latanya DuBois. Ms. DuBois is an African American mother of 7 who began her mental health recovery journey as a teenager. Against the odds she overcame suicidal thoughts, dropping out of high school, depression, and poverty. At one time she was overwhelmed and hopeless. After her son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy – on the heels of her leaving her parents’ home at 16 – she was determined to make her son’s life better than hers. Ultimately, she earned her GED, Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s in Public Policy and Public Administration. Today she has over 20 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit and for profit sectors. In 2008, she opened her consulting, coaching and training program, Eagle EYE Management.
