NAMI NC would like to join in honoring National Hispanic Heritage Month which is September 15 to October 15.

The name of this month is not without controversy, but we feel that it’s important to turn a spotlight on this event for members of the Hispanic/Latinx community who’s identity and culture is as complex and rich as the history and trajectory of its population–there is no one Hispanic/Latinx culture.

In terms of mental health, Hispanic/Latinx communities show similar vulnerability to mental illness as the general population, but they face disparities in both access to and quality of treatment.

While not all in the Hispanic/Latinx community speak Spanish as their primary language, we are proud to announce some of our Signature programs are now being offered in Spanish including NAMI ConexiónSupport Group and De Familia A Familia Educational Class. Click here for more information!
