A new study from the University of Oslo in Norway has contributed to a fresh understanding of what prevents and promotes family involvement in the treatment of patients with severe mental disorders. Research has shown that family involvement in mental health treatment can lead to less chance of relapse, better medication, fewer hospitalizations, and less strain on health care systems.
