While she may be small in stature, her ambitions for mental health advocacy are anything but. Shar Martinez of Erwin, NC was recently crowned Mrs. Southeast Petite and wants to highlight mental health awareness during her reign. Shar has taken advantage of several recent events, such as Denim Days, (a local festival) and the Dunn Christmas Parade, to build awareness of the free and confidential programs that NAMI NC has to offer our community.
“Some of the people that I talked with didn’t know about all of the great resources that NAMI NC provides and are looking forward to reaching out to you all for mental health needs.” Shar relays, “And others knew about NAMI NC and couldn’t do anything but tell me about how amazing y’all are!”
