NAMI North Carolina runs a service called Helpline, designed to provide a warm voice and helpful resources for those who are trying to navigate the mental health system within our state.

Call volume has doubled over the past 4 years, with nearly 200 calls per month coming in from most of the counties across the state. Most calls are asking about NAMI programs and support groups, but a growing number of callers are asking for guidance in connecting with direct services. And while NAMI NC Helpline is not a hotline or suicide prevention line, we frequently receive calls expressing concern over the mental health of loved ones and looking for options as they seek to improve the care they are receiving.

Looking for resources and a kind voice? Helpline Manager Virginia Hamlet Rodillas and her team of volunteers are available Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:00 at

800-451-9682.

You can also text Helpline at 919-999-6527 or email helpline@naminc.org.

NAMI NC is not equipped to handle crisis calls. If you are in crisis and need immediate help, please call 911. If you are feeling suicidal, please call the National Suicide Hotline at 800-273-8255 or text “NAMI” to 741-741.
