This week on Thursdays with NAMI, Executive Director Garry Crites will have the pleasure of speaking with Tim Boyum, an Emmy Award-winning political anchor for Spectrum News. Known for his signature bow tie, Tim is also recognized for his eminently fair interviews of some of the most powerful people in our state and Washington on Capitol Tonight and Tying It Together. Because of his broadcasts during both the Republican and Democratic Conventions, Tim has become one of the most respected capitol reporters in the country.

The personal Tim Boyum is as interesting as the professional one. Although he is a Minnesota boy, Tim has been a UNC Tar Heel fan since childhood. He is a husband and father who prioritizes his family despite an exceedingly hectic work schedule. And in recent years, he has been very candid about his ongoing struggles with anxiety disorder.

You won’t want to miss this episode in which we discuss Tim’s vantage point as a witness to history, his view on the future of mental health in our state, and most importantly, the lessons he has learned as a celebrity who deals with the ups and downs of anxiety.
