NAMI NC Welcomes New Public Policy Director!
As previously reported in The Scoop*, we are very proud to announce that Ashish George has joined our team as NAMI NC’s new Public Policy Director! Ashish will play a vital role on our team, leading grassroots and advocacy efforts as well as advancing the use of Psychiatric Advance Directives throughout the state. Advocacy is one of the cornerstones of advancing our mission towards improving the lives of those affected by mental illness.
Garry Crites, NAMI North Carolina Executive Director, said “I am thrilled that Ashish is joining our office. Advocacy is one of the foci of NAMI North Carolina’s mission statement. The search committee was impressed by Ashish’s background and experience, and believe that he is ideally positioned to advance that focus.”
Ashish recently relocated to Raleigh from Greensboro and has a BA in political science from Davidson College, and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard. He also has over 10 years experience in community relations, development, and inclusion efforts in the education and nonprofit sectors.
