Director of Programs Nina Leger Presents at the First Annual Youth Resilience Summit

Director of Programs Nina Leger presented on “Today’s Youth and Mental Health Awareness” at the first annual Youth Resilience Summit on Friday, November 4. The summit, hosted by Youth of NC, brought together dozens of local educators, social workers, healthcare providers, and nonprofit professionals to discuss how to provide preemptive support to children and teens in order to avoid adverse life events that disrupt a child’s potential and emotional development.

In her breakout session, Nina discussed the increased need for mental health treatment among youth and the NAMI programs that can assist parents and educators with delivering mental health support. She emphasized the importance of speaking to children directly so that they learn how to process their own mental health experiences and struggles.
