Within the Latinx community, there are a variety of barriers that restrict access to mental health treatment. From a language barrier to insurance availability to a lack of cultural understanding from a medical professional. Add in stigma, and the result is that many Latinos/Latinas will not seek out the treatment they may need.

NAMI NC seeks to empower a number of NC organizations that primarily serve Latinx communities with grants of $5,000 to help address critical mental health needs in their respective communities through effective projects.

Priority will be given to creating or continuing projects that focus on the issues of Latinx community members with mental illnesses, that foster self-care and wellness, or that combat stigmas within the community that discourage those with mental illness from getting help.

NAMI NC is still accepting grants applications thru 9/13/21!
