Many law enforcement agencies, mental health professionals and advocates have joined in partnerships to establish Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT). Effective CIT program implementation throughout our state is critical for improving the interactions and outcomes for those that experience mental health crisis in our communities.
NAMI NC and its affiliates have always been a key stakeholder in CIT across the state, especially in planning conferences, training, and events supporting the program. We are happy to announce the formation of a lunchtime lecture series designed for first responders and others who want to promote skilled crisis intervention.
On June 24th at noon, NAMI NC and the NC CIT Planning Committee are welcoming Ron Bruno, Executive Director of CIT International, to speak on three competing—and sometimes controversial—models of crisis intervention that are used around our state and across the nation.
