In July it’s the beginning of a new fiscal year for NAMI North Carolina and with the new year, there will be a change in two staff positions at the State office.

As of July 1st, Peg Morrison will become the Assistant Executive Director of NAMI North Carolina, with a major portion of her role being management of all matters related to our SAMHSA block grant administered through the Division of Health and Human Services, our largest source of funding. Peg will have responsibility for the entire Division grant process from start to finish, a process currently spread among several staff members. She will continue to host the popular Thursdays with NAMI webcast.

Additionally, Mikayla Cardona will assume a new position, the Director of Programs and Affiliate Outreach, which combines responsibilities that currently are spread among two staff members. She will be responsible for (1) the development, coordination, and implementation of NAMI North Carolina’s educational and support programs; and (2) outreach and support to current and potential Affiliates in the development of NAMI Programs.

We believe that this realignment will not only streamline our office for greater efficiency, but will allow people to work in the areas of their greatest strengths and interests. Congratulations to Peg and Mikayla and thank you for all of your efforts towards improving the lives of those affected by mental illness in North Carolina.
