Last week, the US Senate approved the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, a $1 trillion bipartisan bill by a 69-30 margin. Among many other investments, the bill will give $100 million to North Carolina towards increasing broadband access to our unserved communities.

More widespread access to broadband and therefore telehealth will help ease local provider scarcities in short-handed communities, such as many of NC’s 80 rural counties. Additionally, providers indicate that no-show rates plummet when patients are seen virtually as opposed to in person.

Kudos to both NC Senator Richard Burr and Senator Thom Tillis who voted for the bill. And now on to the House!
